La Scala
Singers still measure themselves against this room, and its audience is famous for booing. The season opens every 7 December, Saint Ambrose’s day, and those seats are spoken for long before. Between performances the theatre museum and the red-velvet boxes are open, which is how most visitors actually see it.

The Monumental Cemetery
